II - Descriptions:
- A major antioxidant
Glutathione is the main water-soluble antioxidant in the cytosol (the aqueous interior of cells) and directly participates in the destruction of reactive oxygen compounds. GSH helps recharge antioxidants with a constant flow of electrons to maintain the cell's reserve of antioxidants. GSH helps regenerate the antioxidant potential of superoxide dismutase (SOD), alpha lipoic acid, and vitamins C and E, protecting the cell from a chain reaction that could ultimately destroy it.

- A powerful detoxifier

Glutathione is involved in the detoxification of xenobiotics because it binds to toxins such as heavy metals, solvents and pesticides and transforms them into water-soluble compounds that can be easily eliminated in the bile or urine. . Low levels of glutathione indicate poor liver function, resulting in increased amounts of toxins that circulate in the body, damaging cells and organs.

- Immune system support

High levels of glutathione allow our body to make more white blood cells which are the immune system's first line of defense. Mast cells and white blood cells are under constant attack and require high levels of GSH to stay operational. The increase in blood levels of GSH increases the proliferation of lymphocytes and their differentiation into natural killer cells and T cells.

The creation of free radicals is inherent in any organism living aerobically since all chemical reactions use oxygen, which is an oxidant. Our lifestyle (food, endogenous and exogenous pollution, stress factors ...) has the effect of increasing their production. To defend itself, our body has a certain number of endogenous antioxidants. Among them, glutathione (GSH), a protein synthesized from three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine appears as the major antioxidant, regulator, regenerator of immune cells and effective detoxifying agent. It is essential for certain metabolic and biochemical reactions, for example the synthesis and repair of DNA, the synthesis of proteins and prostaglandins, the transport of amino acids and the activation of enzymes12. The extent of oxidative damage to components of our cells, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and DNA is correlated with the levels of GSH. The most assimilable form of GSH is the liposomal dosage form. It protects the encapsulated glutathione against acid attacks from the stomach and delivers the active molecule to the heart of the cell.
